With a dreadful feeling of doom I opened this page expecting to see the cliched depictions of us pirates as speaking in this hackneyed guttural ignorant way. Well I for one have had enough. We are actually a very polite and mannered bunch while propaganda has chosen to paint us as a bunch of cut-throat treasure-hunting, never-washing parrot-owning bunch of thugs. And the names we are given like Bluebeard are frankly ridiculous. Yours in sadness MadEyes Jim
A blog about, among other things, imaginary ideas - What ifs? and Imagine thats. What if photographs looked nothing like what we see with our eyes? Imagine that the Berlin Wall had never come down. What if we were the punchline of an interminable joke? All contributions welcome.

And I'd like to add that John Betjeman is most certainly a poet of national importance.
