Jeff, Oaks
Just to let bloggers know that Jeff's on fire - and we might even get an exclusive preview of the first three chapters of his new book. Did you know he'd got one coming out? Why hadn't he mentioned it before?
(By the way, I greatly enjoyed my walk, amid some of the finest and most numerous veteran oaks in England. I am mildly obsessed just now with early spring sunlight on tree trunks - an ultralucid PreRaphaelite light. That digital camera of mine has photographed little else.)

It's good to know this publishing chapters on one's blog in advance idea is really catching on Bryan, although some of us are doing it a little further in advance of publication than others.

I photographed moss on a tree the other day, a whole blanket on the trunk but I haven't looked at the results yet, forgot all about them indeed until I read your post. The question is: what to do with them?
Is this a case of not being able to bite the day to the core so one strains for evidence? One cannot be there so one snaps, grabs, yearns in the hope of possession?
Photographs are a snap of the jaw but we mouth empty air, are unfulfilled - in my case, wholly forgetful of the resulting illusion.
What are we supposed to do with the bloody photographs?!
be there then
