A blog about, among other things, imaginary ideas - What ifs? and Imagine thats. What if photographs looked nothing like what we see with our eyes? Imagine that the Berlin Wall had never come down. What if we were the punchline of an interminable joke? All contributions welcome.

Bryan, I can't stop thinking about Palin. Does that make me one of those perverts one reads so much about in the Sunday papers?

What does it say about us when the collapse of holiday firms becomes THE new story of the day: has anyone died?

Holidays are important, George S. Without them, we'd be little more than slaves.

Can't see this increasing Apple's sales. You have to want to buy a Mac, which means effort. Since Microsoft comes pre-installed on almost every other computer, you don't need to make a choice. You get Microsoft anyway. Actually of course you are making a choice. The genius of these ads is to smother that over, presenting a choiceless choice that seems as effortless and downhome as breathing or another serving of salad potatoes. All very Zen.

Microsoft would be a joke except, in Turkey where the Kurdish language is banned, they do not have any support in Kurdish, the Linux community on the other hand couldn't give a toss about politics.

I'm sure that someone, somewhere thinks this is a brilliant ad campaign that makes Windows more desirable. But I am not one of those people.
